WillPCE Data Spark a Market Rally?

Lastweek was a bit of a snooze despite Jerome Powell’s FOMC press conference. TheFed held rates steady and hinted at two possible cuts later this year—butmarkets barely moved. This week could bring more action. Earnings seasoncontinues with 684 companies reporting. Highlights include Olo (in the nuclearenergy spotlight), KB Homes, GameStop, Lululemon, and Walgreens.

Watch for global services and manufacturing data Tuesday morning—starting inFrance and rolling through Germany, the EU, UK, and finally the U.S. at 9:45a.m. ET. These numbers help gauge global economic health.

On Thursday, we get the final Q4 GDP reading at 8:30 a.m. ET. Expectations arefor a slight dip from 3.1%. And the big one: Friday’s core PCE index—the Fed’sfavorite inflation measure—also at 8:30 a.m. ET. A reading of 0.3% or lowercould support rate cuts. Anything hotter? Not great for markets.
