Monday Morning Must-Knows: January 24, 2022

We have some big companies accounting earnings this week including Microsoft, GE, ATT, Intel and Tesla.

This week, we’re watching the Bank of Canada rate statement. With other countries feeling the pressure to raise rates, Canada’s announcement could impact that. And, at 2:00 PM Eastern on Wednesday we’ll get the US rate announcement. While that’s important, we don’t expect a rate change. What’s more important is Fed Chair press conference following the release which can have a big impact on the markets.

Finally, this week, we’re also looking at the PCE Price Index, a key inflationary indicator which central banks look at. This will be released on Friday, but could influence rates in March.
