Will High Mortgage Rates Cool Housing Demand?

This week's earnings calendar is light, featuring 569 companies. Key reports include BHP and TransOcean on Monday, Medtronic and Occidental Petroleum on Tuesday, Analog Devices and Carvana on Wednesday, and Alibaba, Booking.com, and Square on Thursday. No major reports are expected on Friday.

Central banks are in focus as the Reserve Bank of Australia is expected to cut rates by 25 basis points to 4.10% on Monday, while New Zealand’s central bank may slash rates by 50 basis points to 3.75% on Tuesday. Forex traders should watch for potential volatility in AUD and NZD.

Global manufacturing and services data will arrive from France, Germany, the EU, the UK, and the US, with key reports starting at 3:05 a.m. ET.

Lastly, the US housing market will release the NAHB Housing Market Index on Tuesday, building permits on Wednesday, and existing home sales on Friday. With mortgage rates above 7%, these figures could indicate shifting demand.
