What factors contribute to market volatility?
There are several important macroeconomic events that willimpact the market for the next two weeks, likely causing volatility. Earningsare tailing off, with 593 companies reporting this week, including Groupon,Adobe, and Dollar General.
On Tuesday, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) number will be released, which isthe measure of inflation that everyone is watching. A decline is expected, withthe prediction of 0.4%, but anything above this could cause volatility.
On Wednesday, the Producer Price Index (PPI) will be released, with anexpectation of a drop to 0.3%.
Additionally, the European Central Bank will give an announcement with regardsto rates, with an expectation of going from 3% to 3.5%. This may cause somevolatility in the market, especially for the Euro.
There will also be a retail sales number and the Empire State ManufacturingIndex released, as well as Central Bankers speaking. This is creating alot of opportunity, but uncertainty about the market's direction.
