Monday Market Must-Knows: July 22, 2024

This upcoming trading week is packed with earnings reports and key economic data. On Monday, expect reports from Verizon, Cadence Design Systems, and Nucor. Tuesday is crucial with Alphabet, Tesla, Visa, Coca-Cola, Lockheed Martin, Philip Morris, and UPS reporting. Tesla and Alphabet are particularly significant given their recent market movements. Wednesday features Thermo Fisher, IBM, NextEra Energy, AT&T, Waste Management, and Chipotle. Thursday brings AbbVie, AstraZeneca, Union Pacific, Unilever, Honeywell, RTX, and Northrop Grumman, focusing on defensive stocks. Finally, Colgate-Palmolive reports on Friday.

In macroeconomic data, look for services and manufacturing data from France, Germany, the EU, the UK, and the US on their respective schedules. 

Canada is expected to cut interest rates by 25 basis points on Wednesday. In the US, advanced GDP numbers are out on Thursday, with expectations around 1.9%. The critical core PCE price index is also due, expected to rise slightly. This could influence the Fed's decisions in the September meeting.
