Monday Market Must-Knows: August 8, 2022

The price of commodities helps us understand the likely impact on inflation. During the last few months, we have seen tremendous declines in the price of commodities. China is one of the largest buyers of US commodities, but due to recent political issues, will they find another supplier? 

 

While we may not have an answer to the China question, we’ll be looking to the following announcements this week for insights into the trajectory of inflation.

• CPI – Consumer Price Index - Wednesday 8:30am ET

• PPI – Producer Price Index - Thursday 8:30am ET

• USDA -WASDE Report - Friday 12pm EST

 

There are also 1,210, mostly smaller, companies reporting this week. A few of the larger companies to watch for include: Take-Two Interactive Software, Dominion Energy, TradeDesk, Nio, Illumina and Baidu.
