Embracing Trading Academy as our New Name

We are excited to share a small but important change we are making – a transition in our name from "Online Trading Academy" to "Trading Academy."

Online Trading Academy was started more than 26 years ago at a time when online trading was new and novel. From our humble beginnings, we grew from one location in Irvine, CA to many throughout the world serving more than 90,000 students. 

Over the past 26 years a lot has changed. The financial markets are now more accessible to “main street” investors than ever before. And online learning has exploded over the past several years. 

Yet, one of the things we hear most commonly from our students is how much they value our physical centers and the hybrid learning environment we’ve created that blends in-center learning with online class choices.

When the business started in the late 90’s, direct access to the markets through “online trading” was just becoming available, and it made sense to tell students that’s what we taught—online trading. Today nearly all trading occurs online, and it’s no longer relevant to make that distinction. Moreover, with the explosion of online education the name Online Trading Academy has caused confusion with new perspective students who assume the “online” means the education offered is only online.  

While we’re proud of our world-class online education, we’re equally proud to offer students an exceptional in-center experience that makes Trading Academy very unique.

We think this simple name change helps us better clarify the uniqueness and value of Trading Academy while respecting the history & heritage of our brand that has been a leader in trading and investing education for more than a quarter century.
