A New Feature for The Grid

Anyone who uses The Grid knows that it displays information that might not otherwise be found if looking at the myriad of symbols and all the different time frames.

If a symbol is part of The Grid, a click on a corresponding cell will open a Grid Bar that will appear on the chart. The Grid Bar will display all the available cells for that symbol and users can begin to analyze if any of these are a good fit for their personal Trade Plan.

A user can filter The Grid results until the list is the set of symbols and time frames that are of interest.

Current price is represented by a gold line.

However, it still takes time to view each of the symbols that are of interest and to determine if current price is close, making analysis more of a priority. In the previous screenshot, current price is indeed between the cells, but it is not very close to either zone. Plus, with the trend going sideways, it could take a significant amount of time for current price to head towards either one of those zones.

User can spend quite a bit of time examining the symbols, cells, and time frames before finding something that warrants more immediate attention.

We asked ourselves, how could we make this more valuable to our students?

What if we could use a mathematical formula (behind the scenes) and if current price is relatively close to a cell, the cell would change color.

Then we asked ourselves if we could take it one step further.

What if we used that mathematical formula on every cell in The Grid

Then, it would be easy to see when current price is “near” any cell in The Grid.

Now, whether The Grid has been filtered or not, it is easy to use the scroll bar and see exactly which zones are “lit” a different color (signifying that current price is “near” that cell). This is especially helpful when trading lower time frames. It is also helpful when trading higher time frames, and not having The Grid open all the time.

We have automated some of the analysis for our users. One can quickly scan a filtered list or the entire list of Grid symbols and know which cells have current price “approaching” them. Then, they can focus on those cells, doing the analysis to determine if the potential trade is desirable.
